Wiz Khalifa – “Bed Rest (Freestyle)”
This that smoooth shit, cuhhh. Wiz Khalifa is back, and he is on his grind. With the upcoming release of ONIFC (Only N***a In First Class) on the horizon, he has been releasing a stream of video freestyles lately, including his No Lie Freestyle from last week. This week, we have the video for “Bed Rest”, his newest freestyle, and probably his nicest tune in a while. The Sledgren produced beat just glides so smoothly through your eardrums, very reminiscent of “California” from Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Allderdice mixtape. Video is great, song is great, and the artist, also is great. Check Wiz out in “Bed Rest” above.
Next up, we have a very controversial duo as of lately, and that is Meek Mill and Drake in their new song “Amen.” This is from Mill’s latest mixtape Dreamchasers 2, and is one of the heavier-featured hits, with a cameo from Drizzy and a hook by Jeremih too. This song has come under fire by a pastor in Philadelphia, who says the lyrics and the subject matter are directly in opposition to the references about “Church” or “Preaching”. In response, Meek Mill and Drake decided to make a video instead. Check them out living it in South Beach Miami at Club Liv galore – a lifestyle that is notably synonymous with the Swag Life. Check them out, in their video for “Amen” above.
Fabolous – “Swag Champ”
Givenchy. Hermes. Louis V. F-A-B. Faboulous has taken on the title of self-proclaimed Swag Champ, and in this video, he shows us what it takes to stay on top. Watch as he and his dedicated squad of coaches show us just what it takes to make your haters slit their wrists. Making it rain, benchpressing Louis duffles, and running in Givenchy. Must be a hard life. Fab always goes hard, and always will. Check him out, in “Swag Champ” above.
MURS – “Animal Style”
This next video is by a very profound artist by the name of MURS. I haven’t done a lot of listening on the guy, but I do ave respect for what he’s doing. We here at The Swag Section condone one thing: life and the pursuit of happiness – and believe that everyone is entitled to their own forms of expression: that’s what Swag is. However, in the light of Frank Ocean’s recent confession, there has been a lot of talk about the LGBT community and it’s presence in urban hip-hip. Well, California-based rapper MURS has decided to come right out and address it in this very well-done music video, that might take many by surprise. Bold film making and honest storytelling combine to make this a feature on this Music Monday. Mature subject matter is involved. Check out the video for “Animal Style” above.
Stalley – Midnight Satori
Finally we have who is quickly becoming my favorite new rapper, Stalley, with his newest vid for “Midnight Satori.” This dude is just unstoppable. Not only does he have the rawness and lyricism that lets him roll with members of Maybach Music, but he brings something intellectual to the table that is missing in both Rick Ross and Meek Mill. Here he is bringing his Swag to a bus station, and still tearing it down. The shades, the glasses, the hat – dude is on some other shit. Check out “Midnight Satori” above.
