“Real G Shit, you got to show respect.” Real G shit that is, in this video featuring the South’s very own, Killer Mike, Bun B, and T.I. These three might be some of the heaviest hitters to come out of ATL in the past decade or so, and it’s about time they had a song together. Killer Mike makes his resurgence to the rap game after a long hiatus: I think the last joint I heard him on was “The Whole World” by Outkast (circa ’03). Either way, he’s back with “Big Beast” featuring Bun Beata, T.I., and El-P, in what may be the most badass music video that I’ve seen in a long time (and trust, I watch A LOT of music videos.) The video, directed by Thomas C. Bingham, pays homage to Michael Jackson’s 10 minute- + music video trend, which he started back in the 80s. This one, which clocks in at an impressive 9:23, will resonate well with fans of the move Drive, as the plot (yes, there is a plot), and scenes mimic it brilliantly. I personally love when musicians take the time to dignify their music with an equally good music video…and I must say, in this case, the video might outshine the song. But that’s hard to say, considering the song alreaday features Bun B and T.I. on it/ Check out the song and official “movie” video for Killer Mike’s “Big Beast” off his upcoming project R.A.P.
