17-year old emcee Joey Bada$$ is back to repping his New York streets with his sophomore mixtape 1999: The Rejex. As Joey explains himself, this is just a cut of songs that didn’t make the initial release of 1999. But this is just no B-sides collection, and Joey Bada$$ wants you to know there’s some heart in it as well.

This mixtape is definitely nice, as Bada$$ brings in some of that old school Brooklyn flow reminiscent of Notorious B.I.G. and Rakim. A few standout tracks include “Oh, Deer”, and “Update”, where Joey shows both his lyrical and flowing ability. Joey Bada$$ is definitely a name that’s going to be buzzing really soon, and at just 17, he’s got plenty of time to go. Check out his sophomore release, Rejex above.
