This lovely little shoe-sock is the latest in the trend of barefoot-running apparati that have hit the market in the last few years. The “Adapt” is part of adidas’ adiPure line, and features a form-fitting mold that ways in at a mere 4.5 ounces. If that isn’t like running barefoot, then I don’t know what is.

The design is meant to harness the body’s natural mechanics by providing minimal cushioning between the wearer and the ground. This forces your legs and feet to experience the subtle changes in terrain, which encourages the wearer to run on their mid- to forefoot, in a more natural running posture. Expect these and many other crazy sock designs to make their debut at the 2012 Olympics in London in a few months.
